Summer Fashion Conquests...
Working here at Sunhee Moon has shown me that there are so many different kinds of shoppers in this world. There are the speed shoppers, the impulse buyers in for some retail therapy, the meticulous, and the detail-driven. It's made me reflect on what kind of shopper I am, and I've come to the conclusion that I am mostly a fashion researcher, then, explorer. I constantly find myself on fashion conquests.
This is a troublesome pattern because I'm often on the trail of the thing that does not exist. At least not yet. Or in mainstream markets. Or, (let's be honest) in my price bracket. Right now I'm hot on the trail of a pair of vintage leather oxford shoes, a conquest I conceived during my daily browse of The Sartorialist, my favorite street-fashion website. My searches in Mission vintage stores have been fruitless so far, but they have only fueled my desire to explore more. Hayes Valley, Haight-Ashbury -- look out. Next day off... I'm coming for your oxfords!
