Chinatown Livin'

Yesterday, I had a minivan taxi pick me up a mile away from my apartment. Why?

I was getting new (sort of, they're used actually) IKEA furniture! So excited! My favorite pieces are the EXPEDIT cube bookcase and the LACK tall bookshelf; on first glance, the geometry may seem unimpressive, but once you start putting clothing, books, practically anything inside those cubbies, I started to feel like my apartment had turned into a Sunhee Moon store :). That, or the SFMOMA shop - everything looks so elegant and on display, when framed properly.

It made me think of how accessories can totally complete or "frame" an outfit. Here at the Fillmore boutique, I paired the Oliver button-down in Oxford (I love the feel of the fabric, btw) with the Carleton pant in Grey but something was missing. It looked so corporate and ordinary. Add the Kristin Kahle reversible belt and the Latico Grande Square Tote both in red, and you have a totally different look that's fresh and fun, while still sleek, simple and sexy. I used to be shy about accessories or knowing how to wear them, but when worn well, they absolutely work their magic. Just like how my "new" IKEA shelves transformed my bedroom into a museum.
