S U N H E E ... M O O N

a few weeks ago, susan from elle magazine calls me to tell me that she will be in town with her photographer writing a story on hitchcock movies, fashion, and san francisco. she came to the store early and the store was a mess. she was sweet and looked more like a model than a writer. she tried on a few clothes and everything looked great on her. the photographer took some pictures of her in the clothes and one of the both of us standing between a mannequin. i looked like a little girl next to this beautiful writer/model. she tells me that they are pitching the story and no guarantees if it will be received or not and i think nothing more of it. Until today when i get a call from a fact checker from elle magazine, looks like they are going to run the story, with us in it. i could hardly contain my happiness. this is so exciting. elle is a national fashion magazine. it's not an editorial, where they photograph your clothes in a fashion layout and you get credit at the back of the magazine, it's an article. how exciting! susan calls me later that day to confirm that the article will run and she asks me how long i have been in business and i tell her 10 years. wow 10 years. i am still so excited about what i do, it doesn't feel like work, it feels like breathing to me. when i first started, i used to be so stressed and nervous and as the years went on and i got more comfortable in my own skin the more i enjoyed the process of designing and making the clothes. it was never smooth sailing, there was always little fires to put out and things that needed to be changed, but it was all worth it. what a great 10 year present, to be in elle.
