stick-to-it-ness
a lot has happened since i returned from new york in late july. the issue of elle magazine came out in the east coast. in the article they list our phone number so i was getting many phones calls from young girls in virginia, north carolina, and vermont, all who had aspirations to be designers. i gave them the advise that i live by, which is this business is not what you think or imagine it to be. it is much harder, but also very rewarding. i tell them to try there best, but i tell them most importantly, that they need to start developing a good work ethic now while they are young. they need to cultivate a stick-to-it-ness. i feel that the saying "90% perspiration and 10% inspiration" applies to my success. those who survive this business are the persons who decide that they will work hard and put in may hours for sometimes very little results in the beginning. it is easy to be inspired when things are going well and you are doing well, but try to be inspired when things are not. that is when your hard work base helps you ride out the waves.
